Valley of the Kings: Tomb Visits and Private Transfers

Desert hills and visitor paths at the Valley of the Kings

The Valley of the Kings is a major reason to visit Luxor’s West Bank. Royal tombs cut into the desert hills reveal a very different experience from the city’s open temple courts. A well planned visit gives you time inside the tombs you select, with transport and admission organised separately.

Selecting tombs at the Valley of the Kings

The tombs open to visitors can change. Ask which are available for your travel date and what the main admission covers. Some famous tombs require additional tickets, including Tutankhamun’s tomb under its separately ticketed arrangements. Choose based on your interests and confirmed access rather than assuming every photograph you have seen online represents a tomb you will enter.

How private transport helps

A driver takes you to the visitor access area and collects you afterwards; the vehicle does not replace the walking required within the site. Agree the meeting point before entering and keep contact details accessible. Visitors staying on the East Bank need time for the road crossing, while the order of stops for West Bank accommodation can be different.

Combining the valley with nearby attractions

The Temple of Hatshepsut provides a strong architectural contrast to the tombs. Medinet Habu gives another temple option, and the Colossi of Memnon can be a shorter stop. If your priority is decorated burial chambers, spend more time in the valley and reduce the number of other visits. A programme with fewer stops can offer a much better experience.

Walking, heat and enclosed spaces

Expect outdoor paths and tomb entrances with varying steps or gradients. Some chambers and corridors can feel warm or confined. Carry drinking water and wear shoes with grip. Tell us about mobility needs before booking so the route can be discussed honestly. Transport to the gate does not guarantee that every tomb interior will suit every visitor.

Checking the details before travel

Confirm current opening times, admission rules and any photography restrictions with the official site or ticket office. Ask whether a licensed guide is included and where explanations will be provided under the rules on the day. Share your chosen attractions, hotel and return time when requesting a quotation, especially if your visit precedes an important departure.
