About Aswan
- Aswan is a historic southern gateway on the Nile, associated with Nubian trade and the granite used in ancient monuments.
- Philae's temples stand on Agilkia Island after relocation during the international campaign to save Nubian monuments from rising water.
- An island hotel, a mainland hotel and a cruise berth can need different meeting arrangements. Identify the exact property and landing point before booking a road transfer.
Mainland stays, Elephantine Island accommodation, west-bank guesthouses and the Gharb Soheil area are distinct pickup locations. If a boat leg is needed to reach a vehicle, ask for that connection to be included explicitly. Port and cruise access is confirmed with the property or ship.

Places to visit & things to do
Use these highlights to choose your own visits. Experiences, specialist activities and remote stops can be requested; operation, access and any extras are confirmed for your date.
Philae Temple
The island setting is part of the visit. Arrange the road transfer and boat connection together, and clarify whether admission and boat charges are included. The Temple of Isis and surrounding monuments reward more than a brief landing.
Explore this visitThe Unfinished Obelisk
See an abandoned monument still attached to its granite bedrock. The quarry gives a direct view of ancient stone-working. It is an outdoor visit, so allow for uneven surfaces, sunshine and your preferred walking pace.
Explore this visitAswan High Dam
Request a stop at the dam as part of an agreed road itinerary. It can be combined with other southern Aswan sights, but do not assume dam access or any admission is included in a standard hotel transfer.
Explore this visitNubian Museum
A useful introduction to Nubian history and culture. Consider a museum visit alongside outdoor sightseeing, and choose the time around your group's interests. It is a separate attraction from a Nubian village visit.
Elephantine Island
Request time to explore the island's archaeological and village areas. Confirm the landing point and return boat, especially if this visit is part of a hotel change or a journey that ends at the airport.
A Nubian village visit
Ask about a village visit with agreed transport, time and inclusions. A meal, home visit or boat outing is included only when stated. Respect local privacy and ask before photographing people or entering private spaces.
Explore this visitAbu Simbel temples
A separate excursion south of Aswan, not a short city stop. Plan a dedicated travel day and share any flight or cruise deadline before confirming. The departure, visiting time and return are agreed for your date.
Explore this visitKom Ombo & Edfu
Visit these temples north of Aswan on a dedicated outing or as optional stops en route to Luxor. Choose the places you want and allow for both road time and admission arrangements.

Ideas for your time in Aswan
A Philae-focused day
Combine the island temple with the Unfinished Obelisk or High Dam if the schedule suits you. Keep boat arrangements, admission and your road pickup clearly listed.
Nile scenery & Nubian heritage
Choose a museum or island visit, then request a boat outing or village experience. Leave enough time for the boat connection instead of treating every stop as accessible by car.
A separate Abu Simbel day
Give the temples their own excursion. Confirm the return against your next connection and request a different day if your departure schedule leaves too little margin.
Your transport. Your optional extras.

Pickup areas & connections
Aswan Airport, Aswan railway station, mainland hotels and agreed cruise-berth meeting points. Island and west-bank properties may require a boat or a longer road connection. Tell us about luggage, children and any mobility needs when requesting a suitable vehicle.
Plan a comfortable visit
Bring sun protection and water for exposed sites. For Nile experiences, confirm the boat type and boarding arrangements. Temple access, show schedules and ticket options should be checked for your travel date. Wildlife, a particular sailing condition or a specific cruise berth cannot be guaranteed.
For a quotation, share your date, hotel or exact address, attraction choices, passenger ages, luggage and final drop-off. Add any child-seat, walking or accessibility requirements. We confirm what is possible and itemise any additional arrangements.
Aswan travel questions
Does a Philae transfer include the boat?
Only if the selected option or quotation says so. Ask us to itemise road transport, boat arrangements, admission and guiding.
Can you collect us from a Nile cruise?
You can request a cruise pickup. Share the ship name, date, berth or local contact and your next connection so the meeting point can be confirmed.
Is Abu Simbel part of an Aswan city tour?
It should be planned as a separate longer excursion. Request it specifically rather than adding it as an unplanned local stop.
Can I request an Aswan journey without a planner price?
Yes. Send the exact pickup, destination or attraction list, date, passengers and luggage. We will check the arrangements and provide a quotation.
